Anthropic introduces Claude Opus 5.5
Anthropic launched Opus 5.5 with lower token prices than Opus 5 and reported improvements in coding, knowledge work and behavioral audits. Its claimed typical cost reduction depends on default settings and its own test workloads. The announcement includes safety safeguards and external pre-release evaluation, but does not establish that every task is reliable or every tool using the model performs equally well.
Why it matters
Compare completed work and recovery behavior on your own tasks. Provider benchmark tables are useful evidence about a tested setup, rather than a score for an entire software product.

The Copilot app supports enterprise OpenTelemetry settings
The Copilot app now lets administrators configure OpenTelemetry exports through enterprise-managed settings. Session traces can show model requests and tool activity in compatible monitoring systems. GitHub says prompt and response content is excluded by default, with separate content-capture settings. The announcement concerns export configuration, not a claim that every organization already collects these traces.
Why it matters
A trace can help explain an unexpected agent action. Decide which content should leave the client and who can inspect it before enabling detailed capture.

Copilot CLI adds persistent C++ codebase indexing
Whole-codebase indexing lets the Microsoft C++ Language Server reuse symbol information across a project, including unopened files. GitHub says the feature is enabled by default and updated as the code changes. Building the first index can take time and temporarily increase memory use, particularly in larger repositories. This is a code-navigation capability rather than a new language model.
Why it matters
For a large codebase, inspect indexing progress and resource usage alongside answer quality. The time needed for initial setup differs from the cost of later lookups.
